“Peat-Free Gardening!” campaign week in March 2026
Succesfull 3rd nationwide “Peat-Free Gardening!” campaign week in March 2026
HORTICERT once again supported the campaign week as a partner. Organized by the Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity in collaboration with the Agency for Renewable Resources e. V. (FNR), the campaign week highlights the importance of climate and peatland protection and aims to introduce hobby gardeners to peat-free gardening.
The campaign kicked off at the Gärten der Welt in Berlin, where industry and political stakeholders came together to share their views on this important topic. During the event, we presented HORTICERT and the sustainability of peat alternatives.
As part of the campaign week, together with the project HOT 2 (Hobby gardening with peat-reduced and peat-free substrates based on renewable materials 2), we visited toom stores in Remagen and Cologne-Zollstock, engaging with consumers and providing information on peat-free/-reduced growing media.
