HORTICERT Celebrates Five Recertifications 

We are pleased to announce the successful recertification of five companies under the HORTICERT certification system, issued by Control Union Certifications Germany GmbH. Since the implementation of the certification system in 2024, a total of 23 certificates have been issued, of which five represent recertifications. 

We warmly congratulate Copertiz B.V., Eifel-Holz AG and their supply chain partners — I.B.H. Sägewerk GmbH and EMZ-Werke Manderfeld N.V. — as well as Erdenwerk Gebrüder Mayer, the growing media producer for the German DIY store toom Baumarkt, on their successful recertification under the HORTICERT system. The are located in Germany and Belgium and process compost-, wood- and coconut-based peat substitutes. With their recertification, the companies demonstrate their continued commitment to sustainable horticultural practices, setting a high standard in the industry. 

HORTICERT is currently growing and expanding into new markets. Within one year, HORTICERT has expanded to five countries, certifying companies throughout the supply chains of wood-, coconut-, and compost-based peat substitutes – and its growth continues. Currently, HORTICERT-certified growing media is already available in many toom DIY stores in Germany. Next time you’re shopping for potting soil, keep an eye out for the HORTICERT seal!
