HORTICERT Hosts Stakeholder Workshop in Berlin, Germany

In December 2023, HORTICERT has started the third and final project phase for the “Development and implementation of an international certification system for peat substitutes”. Currently, HORTICERT is transitioning into regular implementation which includes the publication of the system documents, the first official audits of different supply chains in different countries and the issuance of the first HORTICERT certificates.

Following  the  remarkable events  of the past months, HORTICERT is pleased to announce that, in collaboration with the FNR, this year’s Stakeholder Workshop will be held as an in-person event in Berlin, Germany. To facilitate the participation of international stakeholders, the event will be conducted primarily in English.

During the event, Meo Carbon Solutions GmbH will provide information on the HORTICERT certification process and recent developments. In addition, there will be insightful presentations from various stakeholders, such as NGOs, who will elaborate on the HORTICERT sustainability requirements, as well as pilot companies, who will share their experiences on their way to achieving the first HORTICERT certifications. Panel discussions will be held to discuss future developments of sustainable peat substitutes in the growing media industry as well as further industry needs and requests for HORTICERT. Finally, the event will conclude with the awarding of the first certificates to the pilot companies.

HORTICERT eagerly anticipates the opportunity to connect with its long-standing supportive partners in person. Yet, due to limited capacitiy at the venue, HORTICERT additionally offers a remote participation option to ensure that all interested parties can participate.
